Browned Butter & Bourbon Brownies

If you love Bourbon Balls, then these Bourbon Chocolate dessert bars are absolutely going to be your next favorite treat. You can make them with deep dark chocolate for a traditional brownie flavor, or go with mild chocolate chips to let the brown butter and bourbon really sing through as a Blondie. Either way, you can’t go wrong.

Prep Time: 20 mins
Cook Time: 22 mins
Total Time: 42 mins
Yield: 20 Servings

Ingredients:
½ cup walnuts (optional)
¾ cup all-purpose flour, plus 1 tablespoon
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, browned and cooled
¾ cup dark brown sugar packed
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons bourbon
½ cup chocolate chips (White, Milk, or Dark chocolate to preference)

Preheat oven to 355°F.
In a small pan on medium heat, brown your butter.
Toast your walnuts.
Mix all your wet ingredients, then fold the dry ingredients into the mixture just until combined. Try not to over-mix, a few lumps are just fine.
Bake until the top is shiny, cracked and the toothpick test comes out clean, bake for 20-25 minutes total or until no raw dough can be detected.
Bake slightly less time for chewier texture and more time for more firm results.
For an extra Adults-only Bourbon kick, garnish with a little blended chocolate syrup or hot fudge mixed with a splash of bourbon.
Enjoy!
